Drake Makes Forbes' 'Wealthiest Hip Hop Artist' list

t’s that time of year again when Forbes puts together their list of the highest earning artists in hip-hop. The list doesn’t look too different from last year, but there is a new entry as one of these artists had a major year both inside and outside of hip hop.

Topping off the top of the list is none other than Diddy himself with $750 million. The hip-hop mogul always has an endless amount of income, whether it’s from his involvement with Ciroc, Sean John clothing line, Revolt TV or alkaline water Aquahydrate. Not to mention he made his return to music with his MMM (Money Making Mitch) mixtape towards the end of 2015.

Next on the list we have Dr. Dre coming in with $710 million. We all know his sell of Beats By Dre to Apple made him the highest paid musician back in 2014. However, the success of “Straight Outta Compton” definitely added to the stash as well as his Southern California real-estate portfolio.

Coming in at the third spot is Jay-Z with $610 million. His music streaming service Tidal has had a few up’s and down’s throughout the past year. Nonetheless, it has been proven to be a successful business deal for the hip-hop mogul with 3-million paid subscribers. Making it worth three times more than the $56 million used to purchase it.

For the past two weeks Birdman has been demanding that everyone put some “respeck” on his name and rightfully so as he remains in the top five with $110 million. Although the Young Money turmoil with Lil Wayne has made continuous headlines throughout the year, causing Birdman to drop from $140 million. It’s proven that the money flow still doesn’t stop.

Making his debut in the top five is none other than Toronto rapper Drake, with $60 million. With the success of his new album “Views From The 6”, Drake hasn’t taken a lost all year long. However, it’s his checks from Nike, Sprite and Apple that has earned him the last spot in the top five. Source: http://www.forbes.com/forbesfive/#49cf0541443e
